Arcep opens consultation on 'fibre zone' status

French regulator Arcep has opened a public consultation to seek stakeholders' views on the 'fibre zone' status, an initiative approved last year as part of the country's new digital law. The status will be awarded by Arcep to geographical areas meeting specific criteria, with the aim to accelerate the migration from copper to fibre broadband adoption. One of the concrete measures supporting this transition would be removing the obligation to install copper telephone lines in new buildings. In the consultation, Arcep presents its proposals on the terms and conditions for awarding the 'fibre
