Argentina 4G base stations surge to nearly 12,000 in Q1

The number of installed 4G base stations in Argentina have increased from just 1,416 in May 2015 to 11,982 at the end of March 2017, according to the latest update from communications regulator Enacom. Although Argentina was one of the last countries in Latin America to launch LTE the country now has a penetration rate of around 36 percent, behind Uruguay in the regional ranking but well above the Latin American average of 21 percent. Separately, the Telam news agency reported that the number of 4G base stations in the southern Patagonia region would increase to 1,413 by 2019 from just 187 at
