Argentina approves procedure for blocking stolen phones

Argentina's National Communications Authority (Enacom) has established the obligations of mobile service providers (including MVNOs) for blocking equipment reported as lost or stolen. These include the identification of irregular IMEI operating on their networks as well as the updating of so-called "negative lists" at least once a month. The purpose of the measure is to reduce theft and fraud of mobile phone terminals. According to the regulation, the user must report the theft or loss of a phone line and associated equipment to the service provider, who will be forced to block the phone line
