Argentina suspends construction of Arsat 3 satellite

Wednesday 30 March 2016 | 10:45 CET | News
Argentina has announced the immediate suspension of Arsat 3, the last satellite approved by former president Cristina Fernandez de Kirchner, reports local daily El Cronista, citing the CEO of state-owned Arsat, Rodrigo de Loredo. The news comes after the Arsat head announced a review of the Arsat 3 project earlier this month due to the lack of proceeds from the geo-stationary satellite Arsat 2, currently in orbit at 81 degrees West. "Arsat needs to be self-funded," said de Loredo, adding that "we are looking for the incorporation of collaborative groups."
