Argentina's Central Bank greenlights mobile wallet system

Friday 3 June 2016 | 13:21 CET | News
Argentina's Central Bank has approved new regulations encouraging the country's banks to develop a "mobile wallet" platform with a view to lowering electronic payment costs and eventually eliminating the use of cash, reports La Nacion. The new regulation envisages the creation of a mobile app that allows users to make immediate transfers remotely from mobile devices and to receive debit card payments. The banks must also provide businesses with a point of sale device and create online "payment buttons" for e-commerce transactions.
