ARM unveils Cortex-R8 processor

ARM has launched what it describes as the industry's most powerful real-time processor, the Cortex-R8. The new CPU doubles the performance of ARM's own Cortex-R7 thanks to a quad-core configuration that makes it ideal for mass storage applications as well as next generation LTE Advanced Pro and 5G mobile baseband standards. In fact, ARM claimed the Cortex-R8's unrivalled performance will make it instrumental in the creation of 5G modems.
