ART rejects Orange, MTN's revised interconnection rates

Cameroon regulator ART has refused to authorise the interconnection rates proposed by Orange Cameroon and MTN Cameroon for 2013, Agence Ecofin reports. After its first proposal was turned down in June 2012, Orange Cameroon suggested new tariffs at XAF 32 per minute at peak times, XAF 30 per minute off-peak, and XAF 10 per SMS. The operator reduced its first offer by XAF 3 and XAF 2 for peak and off-peak calls, respectively. ART chairman Jean-Louis Beh Mengue said Orange did not take up the regulator's recommendation for the off-peak rate to be applied on Saturdays, Sundays and holidays. MTN
