Artists get smallest share of streaming music sales - SNEP

Only EUR 0.68 of the EUR 9.99 a month streaming music subscriptions paid to Spotify or Deezer go to the music artist, according to a study by Ernst & Young from French labels association SNEP. Music labels keep up to EUR 4.61 (46%), EUR 2.08 goes to the streaming platform, EUR 1.67 gets paid in tax and EUR 1 goes to songwriters and publishers. If you exclude the streaming platform's fees and tax, labels get 73.1 percent and artists 10.1 percent.
