ASA cracks down on misleading broadband advertising

The UK Advertising Standards Authority (ASA) is planning a crack down on misleading broadband marketing. Research commissioned by the ASA and Ofcom found that the current approach to presenting pricing in fixed broadband ads is likely to confuse and mislead consumers about the true cost of broadband deals. The ASA plans to raise these issues with broadband providers with a view to changing the way broadband pricing is advertised by end-May 2016. In response, a spokesperson for TalkTalk said that it supported the ASA's findings and called on Ofcom to tackle this problem in their strategic
