ASA still mulling use of 'fibre' in broadband marketing

The UK's Advertising Standards Agency announced research into the use of the word 'fibre' in broadband advertising. The term is commonly used to refer to VDSL/FTTC services in the UK. In light of the government's increased efforts to support full fibre (FTTP), the ASA wants to look at whether the current use of the term is misleading. It's now commissioned independent research to look at whether consumers are likely to be materially misled by the term 'fibre' when it is used in advertisements for part-fibre services.
