ASA upholds complaint against Hyperoptic's direct mailing on 'Your BT contract'

Thursday 19 October 2017 | 09:15 CET | News
The UK Advertising Standards Authority (ASA) upheld a complaint against a direct mailing letter sent by fibre broadband provider Hyperoptic in February. The ruling was based on the finding that the advert was not obviously identifiable as marketing communication from the company and could be mistaken as private commercial correspondence from BT. While not featuring a BT logo or imagery, the letter referred to "Your BT contract" in large red print at the top, followed by the underlined word "important" in the first sentence of text.
