Asiacell results fall, customer base still growing in Q3

Iraq operator Asiacell reported third-quarter revenues down 15.1 percent to USD 292.7 million, and EBITDA fell to USD 126.0 million from USD 159.2 million a year ago. Net profit plunged to USD 1.3 million from USD 24.7 million, and capex was scaled back to USD 24.0 million from USD 107.3 million a year earlier, according to figures from its parent company Ooredoo. The company ended September with 11.20 million customers, an increase of nearly 377,000 compared to June. ARPU was at USD 8.8, up from USD 8.6 in Q2 but down from USD 10.5 a year ago. Ooredoo said a company-wide cost optimization
