AT&T and Telcel awarded 4G frequencies in Mexico

Mexico's Federal Telecommunications Institute (IFT) announced that AT&T and Telcel will receive additional national blocks of frequencies for 4G services. The 80 MHz of spectrum assigned in the AWS (Advanced Wireless Services) band will generate revenues of around MXN 45 billion (plus annual compensation rights) to the Mexican state in the next 15 years. Also, the auction will result in a 29 percent increase in the spectrum available for the development of mobile broadband services in Mexico.
