AT&T announces ESInet IP-based emergency network

AT&T has announced a next-generation 9-1-1 service, AT&T ESInet, which it describes as a state-of-the-art, robust and flexible network with call routing services. It is aimed at public safety agencies to upgrade their older 9-1-1 networks to IP technology. The company expects to make it commercially available in the second half. AT&T ESInet is designed to accelerate the adoption of Next Generation 9-1-1 call routing. It can handle texts and will support pictures and video in the future.
