AT&T asks Mexico to free up 50 MHz block in 2.5 GHz band

AT&T has written to Mexico's telecom regulator IFT to request the release of a 50 MHz block in the 2.5 GHz frequency band for wireless services, according to a report in local daily La Cronica. "To give greater flexibility of use to existing concession owners, we believe that the 2,570 to 2,620 MHz segment should be auctioned as a single block and at a national level, allowing the winning bidder to use the spectrum according to its own requirements," the company said, according to the report. The 2.5 GHz spectrum, previously held by pay-TV operators, was recovered by the IFT for wireless
