AT&T expands smart city services

AT&T has formed alliances with Cisco, Deloitte, Ericsson, GE, IBM, Intel and Qualcomm to help support its new smart cities framework. The US operator plans to launch services initially in Atlanta, the Georgia Institute of Technology, Chicago and Dallas. AT&T said it will help the cities with solutions that connect utility meters, street lights, and water systems. The new framework adds several new categories to its existing smart city services, including remote monitoring of public infrastructure like parks and bridges, mobile apps to keep local residents informed, digital signage for public
