AT&T eyes more acquisitions in Latin America - report

After purchasing DirecTV and its 18 million subscribers in Latin America, AT&T is eyeing more acquisitions in the region, reports Bloomberg. AT&T needs to acquire more assets, especially large landline networks with broadband subscribers, if it wants to boost growth outside the US, said Jonathan Chaplin, an analyst with New Street Research. AT&T is among the companies that Mexico's America Movil has contacted about buying USD 17.5 billion of mobile and fixed line businesses, people with knowledge of the matter said last month.
