AT&T to bring 4G and free Wi-Fi to Mexico City metro

Friday 10 March 2017 | 11:56 CET | News
AT&T has signed a deal with Mexico City's metro to install 4G technology in 12 of the network's lines and provide free Wi-Fi in 11 of them. In a statement, city hall announced that lines 1, 3 and 7 will have free Wi-Fi in place as early as August, with the service eventually extending to the remaining lines between 2019 and 2020, ultimately benefiting some 5.5 million daily users. A total of 4,000 access points and 500 kilometres of fibre-optic cable will be rolled out as part of the installation, with 175 stations and 350 trains covered.
