Australia intros Statutory Infrastructure Provider regime, offers broadband access for all customers

The Australian Government has announced that its new Statutory Infrastructure Provider regime has come into effect, meaning "all people in Australia can access high-speed broadband, no matter where they live or work". The regime underpins the Universal Service Guarantee. Australia now has a legislated framework for access to broadband, as well as voice and payphones.
