Austria still has 14,000 public pay phones

Tuesday 8 August 2017 | 11:12 CET | News
Although public pay phones are hardly used and their number in Austria is decreasing, there are still 14,000 in operation, reported Der Standard. Twelve thousand of them are telephone booths, while the others are placed in buildings, such as shopping centres or hospitals. Although the number has fallen from 16,000 in January 2016, there are still significantly more per capita in comparison with Germany, with 22,000 telephone booths.
