Austrian company D-Light plans aerial FTTH

Austrian company D-Light is working on FTTH coverage in Vienna using aerial receivers rather than underground cabling, reported Der Standard. The company, which has a Swiss investor on board, plans to rent the backbone network from an unnamed mobile operator. Transmission and receiving stations the size of a shoe box and equipped with 1 GB fibre-optic ports will be placed on the roofs of buildings.
