Austrian operators call for lower rental costs for antenna sites

The three Austrian operators A1, Magenta Telekom and Hutchison Drei have called for a reduction in the costs to rent locations for mobile antennae, Der Standard reports. Speaking at the 5G digital summit organized by the think-tank Internet Offensive Austria, the CEO of Magenta Telekom Andreas Bierwirth said that the system is fragmented, and responsibilities are divided between Asfinag, a public-owned company that finances, builds, maintains and collects tolls for highways, housing associations, and other companies and organizations.
