Austrian operators not obliged to provide user location data

The Austrian Data Protection Authority has published its report for 2016, according to Der Standard. The report includes descriptions of cases in which consumers or legal entities complained about violations of the data protection rules, such as access to their own data, data secrecy and the right to delete data. One mobile user complained that their operator refused to provide information on the location of the customer's two mobile phones. The Data Protection Authority declined the complaint, claiming that the owner of a device may not necessarily be its user, but rather the customer's
