Austrian SMS fall 50 percent in favour of messengers since 2014

Over the past three years, messenger services such sa WhatsApp have been increasingly replacing traditional SMS, reported Der Standard. According to the Telecom Monitor, published by the Austrian regulator RTR, in Q4 2011, the number of SMS sent was 2.018 billion, while in the first quarter of this year it was only 663.3 million. Over the past three years, the volume of text traffic has decreased by nearly 50 percent.
