Friday 13 April 2012 | 10:47 CET | News
The actual internet download speed in France is 8.64 Mbps, on average, according to data collected from 3.6 million ADSL and FTTX connections to the website of DegroupTest in the second half of 2011. The average upload speed was 1.2 Mbps, with a 73 millisecond delay. For ADSL only, the average download speed was 5.96 Mbps, and upload 623 kbps, compared to 25.66 Mbps and 5.15 Mbps for Fttx (FTTH and FTTLA). ZDnet writes that the gap between theoretical and actual speeds is cannot be completely blamed on operators, as customers may not be using hardware and software that is optimised for fibre.
