Axcient raises USD 20 mln in Series D funding

Hybrid cloud-based data backup, disaster recovery and business continuity startup, Axcient has announced it has raised USD 20 million in Series D funding led by Scale Venture Partners and Thomvest Ventures with Peninsula Venture and Allegis Capital participating, according to TechCrunch. This brings the company's total investment funding to USD 53.5 million. The new funding will be used to hire 50+ people in engineering, sales and marketing in 2013, the article said.
