Axel Springer lets Google publish website excerpts free

Publishing group Axel Springer said it is granting Google a free licence after all to publish excerpts from Springer's Die Welt, Computerbild.de, Sportbild and Autobild websites, citing financial pressure. Since 23 October, Google has been limiting appearances from those four websites in its search results because fee collector VG Media's refusal to allow Google a free licence. Springer has now mandated VG Media to grant the licence.
