Axtel sells part of fibre business to Megacable for MXN 1.15 bln

Mexican operator and ICT services provider Axtel has reached an agreement to sell part of its residential fibre business in several cities to Megacable for a total of MXN 1.15 billion. The deal covers the cities of Leon, Puebla, Toluca, Guadalajara and Queretaro, with net proceeds used to improve Axtel's capital structure as part of its strategy to focus on the enterprise and government markets. Under the terms of the deal, Axtel transferred 55,000 residential and micro-business customers, 1,370 km of FTTx fiber optic network and other assets to Megacable on 01 May.
