Axtel to separate operations into infrastructure and services units

Mexican operator and ICT services provider Axtel followed the publication of its quarterly financial report by announcing plans to split its operations into separate infrastructure and services business units. The infrastructure unit will concentrate the majority of Axtel's assets and will provide wholesale connectivity and internet services to domestic and foreign IT and telecommunications operators. The value-added services unit, meanwhile, will maintain the Alestra brand and will continue to offer managed telecommunications and information technology services to more than 18,000 business
