Azteca free to pull out of Peru fibre backbone project - MTC

Monday 29 April 2019 | 14:00 CET | News
Mexico's Azteca Comunicaciones is free to exit from Peru's Fibre Optic Backbone Network (RDFO), a project it launched with the government back in 2016, reports business daily Gestion, citing Virginia Nakagawa, vice minister at the transport and communications ministry (MTC). "We respect the concession contracts (because) contractual and legal security is fundamental for us. If Azteca wants to withdraw, the doors are open," said Nakagawa, adding that no arbitration is required because "the state has complied with the obligations set forth in the contract."
