Baidu purchases Brazil's Peixe Urbano

China's Baidu, the second largest search service on the internet, has announced the acquisition of control of Brazil's Peixe Urbano, an online sales site with discount coupons, reports Reuters. The value of the transaction was not disclosed. In a statement, Baidu said it will maintain the current staff of Peixe Urbano, which will continue to work independently, but within the Baidu ecosystem. The company began operations in Brazil in December but without an online search function, which was only introduced in July this year. Baidu has pledged to invest more than BRL 120 million in the
