Bangladesh considers cut in SIM tax

The Bangladesh government has recommended a reduction in the SIM tax in the next fiscal budget to BDT 200 from the current BDT 600 per connection, Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha (BSS) reported online. The Bangladesh Telecommunication Regulatory Commission (BTRC) and Ministry of Post and Telecommunication advocated lowering the SIM tax as a reduced SIM tax would pave the way for more revenue through increasing user penetration.
