Bangladesh cuts SIM tax by 50%

The Bangladeshi government has decided to cut the SIM tax to BDT 300 from the current rate of BDT 600, according to a statuary regulatory order issued by the National Board of Revenue, the Daily Star reported. The mobile operators have been urging the government over the last few years to slash the SIM tax, which has been affecting mobile penetration.The government had cut the SIM tax to BDT 600 from BDT 800 in the last budget.
