Bangladesh opens up to VoIP services

The Bangladesh telecom regulator started to hand over VoIP licences from 25 March. Bangladesh Telecommunication Regulatory Commission (BTRC) chairman Sunil Kanti Bose issued the licences to several organizations approved for the services, opening Bangladesh for the first time to international call termination through VoIP technology, bdnews24.com reported online. According to the BTRC Legal and Licensing Division, 844 of the 1,004 firms cleared for the licences have paid their fees; the licences are being issued only to those who have paid.
