Barcelona Supercomputing Centre signs EUR 30 mln IBM deal

Barcelona Supercomputing Centre (BSC-CNS) has revealed that its new MareNostrum 4 supercomputer will have a performance capacity of 13.7 Petaflop/s, some 12.4 times more powerful than the current MareNostrum 3. The EUR 30 million supercomputer has been purchased from IBM, which will integrate its own technologies alongside those of Lenovo, Intel and Fujitsu in a sole machine. The supercomputer's general purpose element, provided by Lenovo, will have 48 racks with more than 3,400 nodes with next generation Intel Xeon processors and a central memory of 390 Terabytes.
