BBC appoints first Director of BBC Studios

The BBC has appointed Peter Salmon as the new Director of BBC Studios. This is the new production division being created following the announcement in 2014 that the BBC would separate TV production from TV commissioning. Salmon is currently the BBC's Director, England, and will become the first Director of the new Studios division later in 2015. He will work closely with the BBC's Director of Television, Danny Cohen, and the BBC's Directors in the nations . As a result of this appointment, Helen Boaden will oversee BBC England in addition to her other duties.
