BBC to drop smart TV Sport, News apps in favour of iPlayer

The BBC has announced plans to change its smart TV apps from 2020 in the UK. The BBC Sport and BBC News apps will be discontinued and the content folded into the iPlayer app, and a new BBC Sounds app will be added for radio, music and podcasts. The changes are expected to take effect from the end of January 2020.
