BBC to give coding devices to all 7th graders

Friday 13 March 2015 | 09:37 CET | News
The BBC has launched the "Make it Digital" initiative to give a coding device to every 7th grade pupil in the UK, 1 million units in total. The scheme will create 5,000 digital trainee and involve partnerships with some 50 organisations. It starts with a season of dedicated BBC programmes and online activity. The major initiative is intended to inspire a new generation to get creative with coding, programming and digital technology. The UK is facing a significant skills shortage with 1.4 million digital professionals needed over the next five years, according to regulator Ofcom.
