BBC to launch 'Beeb' voice assistant next year

Tuesday 27 August 2019 | 11:30 CET | News
The BBC has confirmed that it's preparing to launch its own digital voice assistant next year. The Alexa rival will be called 'Beeb' and won't be a standalone physical product. Rather, it will be designed to work on all smart speakers, TVs and smartphones, focusing primarily on helping users interact with online services and find their favourite programmes on iPlayer. "This marks another step in ensuring public service values can be protected in a voice-enabled future," said the broadcaster.
