BBC Worldwide reports headline profit of GBP 157.4 million

BBC Worldwide has reported headline profit up 0.7 percent to GBP 157.4 million for 2013/2014, from GBP 156.3 million a year earlier. Headline profit margin increased from 14 percent to a record 15.1 percent. Headline sales were down 6.6 percent to GBP 1.04 billion, from GBP 1.11 billion. The lower sales mainly reflected portfolio changes, including the sale of Lonely Planet and a new revenue share agreement for BBC.com. Adjusting for these, trading revenue was broadly flat, with growth from non-English language markets, sales to digital platforms and advertising helping to offset pressure on
