BCE grows Q1 revenues 2.8%

Canadian operator BCE reported first-quarter revenues up 2.8 percent from a year earlier to CAD 5.24 billion, and adjusted EBITDA rose 3.6 percent to CAD 2.09 billion. The results were supported by growth at Bell Wireless and improved results at the wireline and media activities. Net profit fell to CAD 532 million or CAD 0.63 per share from CAD 615 million or CAD 0.79 a year ago. In addition to costs for severance and acquisitions, the company took a one-time charge of CAD 137 million for a lawsuit over satellite TV signal piracy.
