Revenues of the mobile operator Beeline Uzbekistan grew by 4.2 percent year-on-year to UZS 651 billion in the third quarter. Mobile service revenue increased by 4.1 percent to UZS 645 billion, driven by 8.3 percent growth in ARPU, despite the negative impact from the reduction in mobile termination rates. Mobile data traffic more than doubled and mobile data revenue increased by 50.9 percent, supported by the continued roll-out of broadband data networks, increased smartphone penetration and the increased penetration of bundled offerings in the customer base to 40.5 percent. Fixed service revenue grew by 10.4 percent, to UAH 4.4 billion.

EBITDA dropped by 8.1 percent to UZS 291 billion, and the EBITDA margin totaled 44.7 percent, down by 5.9 percentage points, mainly due to external factors such as the increase in customer tax (approximately UZS 30.6 billion or 9.7 percent) and the negative impact of the reduction in mobile termination rates (approximately UZS 11.1 billion or 3.5 percent). Capital expenditure, excluding licences, totaled UZS 70.6 billion, up by 42.7 percent.

The mobile subscriber base declined by 4.7 percent from a year earlier to 9.1 million. Mobile data subscribers rose 10.1 percent over the same period to 5.2 million.

The company continued to invest in its broadband networks, improving the LTE coverage to 24.5 percent and increasing the number of nationwide 3G sites by 11 percent year-on-year.

In the third quarter, parent company Veon's subsidiary Vimpelcom successfully repatriated a net amount of approximately USD 10 million from Uzbekistan. The repatriation of cash was executed at the market rate and brings the year-to-date amount repatriated to USD 95 million. Veon said aims to continue to repatriate excess cash in the remainder of this year.
