Belgian operators shut down 400,000 prepaid cards

Mobile operators in Belgium shut down 400,000 prepaid connections on 7 June. The Sim cards had not registered before the deadline. The registration of prepaid sim cards became compulsory in order to fight terrorist attacks. The law went into effect last year, with large-scale operators calling on customers to register. People could do in shops as well as via the internet, with a digital ID. De Tijd reported that 2.7 million users were able to enter their name and address information in good time.
