Berlin senate launches new tender for free WLAN

Monday 22 December 2014 | 13:51 CET | News
The Berlin senate has launched a tender for the use of public buildings for a free public Wi-Fi network, dslweb.de. The plans for the network have failed so far because no provider wanted to pay for the financing and maintenance. The senate has now announced to pay for part of the rent and costs. The new proposal aims to find investors by providing the premises for two years as well as a total of EUR 170,000. In return, the potential provider must be willing to offer the free use for at least 30 minutes per day per person. The deadline for applications is end-January.
