Bitkom, Gema reach royalty agreement for VoD providers

German ICT industry group Bitkom and German royalty collections body GEMA have reached an agreement for online video-on-demand (VoD) providers. The agreement governs the amount of royalties online VoD operators must pay for music in movies, series, TV shows, documentaries and other formats. The fees will be 16.5 cents for film purchases and 5.5 cents for film rentals. For TV series, the fee will be 4.9 cents per purchase or 2.35 cents per rental. The agreement is retroactive to 01 January 2002.
