Bitkom research confirms growing popularity of gaming in Germany

Around 30 million people aged 14 or older, equal to 42 percent of the German population, play computer games, at least occasionally, according to the latest research by Bitkom. The number of gamers has been stable since 2014. Nearly three in ten (29%) considers video and computer games a part of society and culture, like literature, films and music, and 19 percent said one can take part in the gaming culture without necessarily playing themselves, through e-sport events, livestreams and Let's Plays.
