BlackBerry starts R&D initiative to push security innovation

BlackBerry has introduced the BlackBerry Center for High Assurance Computing Excellence (CHACE), an initiative aimed at driving security R&D efforts worldwide. CHACE wants to develop tools and techniques that will deliver a higher level of security protection that the fail-then-patch methods currently available. The centre said it will collaborate with academic institutions and industry groups, and that a number of leading organisations have already expressed their support. BlackBerry will also work with the healthcare community in order to address security and privacy concerns for
