BNF, Hachette sign printing on demand agreement

French national library BNF and publisher Hachette Livre have signed a non-exclusive agreement for the printing on demand of some of the 200,000 books in BNF's Gallica digital library. The deal covers a selection of around 15,000 books that are out of copyright, which will be printed and sold by Hachette Livre in bookstores from September. The digital books will be printed within hours of a customer order by Lightning Source France, a 50/50 joint venture between Hachette Livre and US partner Lightning Source.
