Bolivian satellite generates USD 19 mln in revenues

The director of the Bolivian Space Agency (ABE), Ivan Zambrana, said that the Tupac Katari satellite earned USD 19 million in revenue in 2015 from the provision of various telecommunications services. In December only, revenues amounted to USD 2 million. The forecast for 2016 is for at least USD 25 million in revenues. Two years after launch, 75 percent of the satellite capacity has been leased by public and private companies, all national. Currently, over 150,000 households in Bolivia benefit from access to free-to-air satellite TV.
