Bolivian telecom investment fell 90% to USD 280 mln in 2016

The amount invested in modernising Bolivia's telecommunications networks fell by 90 percent to USD 280.9 million in 2016, compared to the previous year's total of USD 534.4 million, according to figures from the country's public works ministry. Entel accounted for over 70 percent of the amount invested in 2016, allocating some USD 206.3 million in total compared to USD 328.2 million in 2015. Around USD 74 million was invested in installing base stations and rolling out fibre-optic networks under initiatives run by National Programme for Telecommunications and Social Inclusion (Prontis), added the ministry.
